German Praise for the 1924 National Origins Act

Hans Gunther, a German race anthropologist, praised the 1924 U.S. National Origins Act for keeping "degenerate" individuals and ethnic groups from entering the United States. A Bavarian Health Inspector concurred, "German racial hygienists should learn from the United States how to restrict the influx of Jews and eastern and southern Europeans."
